Saint Francis of Assisi was born into a very wealthy family. He always wore expensive clothing and was always around people that were rich. Saint Francis’s dream was to be a knight, and when he became one he fought for Assisi. When Assisi was at war with Perugia, Saint Francis was captured and imprisoned. In his cell he realised that all the expensive things were useless. When he was free Saint Francis went to a crumbling old church. He heard God speaking to his heart. God wanted him to change his ways and to fix his church. That meant fix himself.
